Plateau, Smith's Dock: housing development

R Vint Engineering Ltd was the civil and structural engineering consultant on this vast regeneration project of what was once a major industrial complex into one of the North East's most prestigious mixed-use developments. Plateau was the first phase of the housing development project, for which we designed the drainage, highways, external works, and substructure solutions for 34 modular houses, 24 hoUSe units and 10 by George's Clarke's Architectural practice Fabrik. Dealing with a very complex site in terms of ground conditions (contamination, obstructions, topography, major retaining structures etc.), we developed a very efficient driven pile solution that allowed the realisation of a challenging programme on budget and to an amazing quality.
