Burton Stone Lane: engineering for a residential property

It was an absolute pleasure to assist a long-term client on his private residential property on this one. We teamed up with our old friend James Hampton of New Makers Bureau who developed a concept for a beautiful extension on this family home at Burton Stone Lane, York. Not only was it fantastic to collaborate with James again (after we'd worked together on the design of the major Park Hill regeneration scheme), but it was a chance to provide structural engineering to enable the spectacularly ambitious form to be created. The design floods the living space with light and enables the garden and living space to intertwine with one another via the frameless corner window, creating a breath-taking vision. Built by our colleagues at York Builder, the attention to detail that James (and we) hoped for was realised in the great workmanship on site.
