Filey Station: scaffold design
Location
Filey
Project type
Scaffold design
Our involvement in the Filey Station Roof Repair project enabled our D&B contracting client, Colt, to deliver this major project whilst allowing this significant piece of local infrastructure to remain open and operational during the works.
Our innovative scaffold design included both internal and external scaffolding elements. An internal scaffold consisted of a crash deck spanning the full width of the station, anchored into the existing station walls rather than relying on bearing onto the platform. This allowed for the protection of passengers from the roof works and limiting obstacles for passengers at platform level. This forms part of our inclusive design process to keep all people safe, especially those of protected classes.
The external scaffold consisted of a series of large spans, relying on existing strong points of the existing building and areas where bearing directly onto the ground could take place. This was to limit any potential damage to the existing buildings and roofs that surround the main station building.
