Leeds Station scaffold: temporary works design

Our involvement on the Leeds Station Concourse Roof Replacement and Refurbishment Project enabled our B&D contracting client, Colt, to deliver this major project within a considerably reduced programme while keeping the station in full operation throughout.
The project is part of a wider £161m revamp of the station. Our innovative scaffold design enabled the introduction of a new roof made of fluorine-based co-polymer material ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE), and the safe removal of the old dark wooden roof while permitting the station to remain fully operational.
Our proactive approach and lateral thinking enabled us to design a fantastic temporary works design that worked with challenging ground conditions and restrictive layout options to avoid obstructing retailer’s units while also maintaining clear routes for the masses of passengers that use the station daily.
