Barnes Wallis Barn: structural design

R Vint Engineering Ltd provided civil and structural design solutions for this new build CLT structure featuring a steel frame located in East Riding. The layout of the dwelling’s living area will be principally influenced by the traditional barn configuration and character of East Riding’s Farm settlements. The internal space is designed to flow like a barn, connecting a number of rooms under the same roof. The design studio will be a smaller separate feature — an elevated ‘pod’ extrusion, which in turn creates an external living area below the pod.
