  • New build extension

Client: Private client | Architect: Studio Tama Coco | Our role: Civil and structural engineering

Summary:

This project, for a private client living in Bubwith, involved designing a two-storey side extension that created additional space at ground floor level. The existing kitchen was re-located and that area is now dining and general living space. A master bedroom with ensuite was provided at first floor level.

A new opening was formed on the first floor in the centre of the east gable. This opening passes through the middle of the existing chimney breast, providing access to the new first floor accommodation.

The new-build construction consists of two ‘glazed slots’ either side of the main two-storey gabled structure with a ‘lean-to’ structure to the east of one of the glazed slots. The south facing elevation of the gabled structure is substantially glazed with a glass balcony. The extension is clad with black zinc.
