Independence House

Client – London Ebor;  Architect – Vincent and Brown;   Role – Civil and Structural Engineering.

Project

This interesting project comprises a complete re-modelling of the existing offices of Independence House, with a two-storey extension along with alterations to the existing building. The building itself is situated between London Ebor Business Park and Millfield Lane Industrial Estate, and is set in its own grounds opposite the Manor Church of England School, York. The project is being designed utilising the 3D analysis and drafting software of Tekla and Revit.

Independence House is a proposed development involving a large rear extension, the rebuilding of an existing wing and the removal of some internal walls. The new structure is a steel frame with concrete flooring supported on foundation piles. For analysis and design, we used ‘Tekla Structural Designer’ software which enables seamless integration with an architect’s 3D model. Tekla allows clients and design teams to streamline changes for design progression and pricing scenarios, with little impact to design and drafting time.
